Welcome to Bomb Farm, an idle RPG where your bomber squadron does the heavy lifting. This beginner guide walks you through the core mechanics, helps you deploy your first heroes efficiently, and sets you on the fastest path through the early stages.
Bomb Farm revolves around a simple but addictive cycle: your heroes autonomously place bombs on the battlefield, shattering minerals to earn gold, experience, and loot. Every object on the grid — rocks, ores, bushes, wooden crates — counts as a mineral, and destroying them is the sole source of all your resources. Once a room is cleared, a new one spawns immediately, so the action never stops as long as you have heroes on the field.
It is critical to understand that Bomb Farm is not a traditional idle game with offline earnings. Your heroes only produce while the game is actively running; closing the client means zero income. Gold and chest drops are credited to your account once per mineral, while experience is awarded specifically to the hero whose bomb landed the finishing blow. Keep the game open and your squad deployed to maximize your gains.
The battlefield consists of a 19×16 tile grid filled with minerals of varying rarity. Rarer minerals have more health but yield significantly better rewards. As you progress deeper through the game's 600 stages across five difficulty tiers, the minerals become tougher — but far more lucrative.

You start with a single battlefield slot, but can eventually field up to nine heroes simultaneously. Additional slots are unlocked through the talent tree, making it one of your top priorities for early gold spending. Every idle hero is wasted potential — get as many bombers on the field as you can, as quickly as possible.
Heroes don't have a traditional health bar and cannot die. Instead, they consume energy while fighting. When a hero's energy hits zero, they automatically return to a recovery house to recharge before heading back out. Early on, upgrading your housing ensures faster energy recovery and minimizes downtime across your squad.
New heroes are obtained exclusively from the Cage, which operates on timers. Heroes come in six rarity tiers ranging from Common to Mythical, and higher-rarity heroes can learn more skills — up to 20 are available in total. Duplicate heroes aren't wasted either; you can fuse them together to create rarer, more powerful versions.

Chests drop randomly when you destroy minerals, and they never expire — open them whenever you like. Inside you may find equipment, heroes, gems, time parts, or keys. With 240 pieces of equipment in the game across multiple rarity tiers, you will constantly be swapping gear. The simplest rule of thumb: if a new piece raises your combat power, equip it immediately.
The forging system lets you enhance equipment with a +N upgrade level. A crucial tip for beginners: forging up to +8 has a 100% success rate, so there is no reason to hold back on early upgrades. Beyond +8 there is a failure risk, so save your resources for when you have a clear strategy. You can also fuse items together to create stronger versions, keeping your inventory lean and your power climbing.

Every tenth stage (X-10) features a timed gate that requires a key of the matching difficulty to enter. Keys drop from all non-gate stages, so you will accumulate them naturally as you farm. Hoarding keys is wise — without one when you reach a gate, your progression stalls completely until you earn another by replaying earlier stages.
There is absolutely no penalty for replaying completed stages. Gold, experience, and drops remain fully consistent with that stage's level, making it a perfectly viable strategy to farm a comfortable stage while building up your squad before pushing forward. Revisiting tough stages also helps specific heroes catch up on experience since XP goes directly to the bomber who made the kill.
The game spans 600 stages divided across five difficulty tiers. Don't rush through them — each difficulty spike is significant, and being properly geared and leveled makes the transition far smoother. Use your keys strategically and make sure your entire squad is ready before crossing each gate.
Gold sitting in your wallet does nothing for you. The two best investments in the early game are the talent tree and forging gear to +8. The talent tree contains 132 global nodes that provide permanent, account-wide benefits — most importantly the extra battlefield slots that let you field more heroes simultaneously. Prioritize unlocking those slots above all else.
The Lucky stat deserves special attention for new players. It boosts the drop rate for chests, keys, gems, and time parts, though it has no effect on gold income. Investing in Lucky early means more chests, which means more gear and heroes, creating a powerful snowball effect. Pair this with the gem and star system — collecting gems lets you perform rituals that grant star ratings to your heroes, multiplying their base attributes.
Finally, keep an eye on the Steam Market. Bomb Farm is free to play, and duplicate items or heroes you don't need can be listed for sale to other players. This external trading layer adds real value to efficient farming, giving you another reason to keep those bombers running and those minerals shattering.
