Bomb Farm features a deep loot system with six rarity tiers, nine gem types, and 240 pieces of equipment that can all be obtained by destroying minerals across 600 stages. This guide covers every rare drop source in the game, explains what influences drop rates, and lays out the most efficient farming routes to build your collection.
Every item and hero in Bomb Farm belongs to one of six rarity tiers, ranging from Common at the bottom to Mythical at the top. Rarity directly determines how powerful a drop is: higher-rarity equipment rolls more attribute lines, and higher-rarity heroes can learn a greater number of skills from the pool of 20 available. Because rarity gates both immediate power and long-term upgrade ceiling, targeting drops at the upper tiers is the single most impactful thing you can do for your account.
Chests are the primary delivery mechanism for rare loot. They drop when your heroes destroy minerals on the battlefield, and each chest can contain equipment, heroes, gems, time parts, or keys. The contents are rolled when you open the chest, not when it drops, and chests never expire — so there is no rush to open them before you are ready. Keep in mind that gold coins are awarded separately per mineral and are not affected by the Lucky stat, whereas chests, keys, gems, and time parts all benefit from it.

All rewards in Bomb Farm come exclusively from destroying minerals — the rocks, ores, shrubs, and crates that fill each 19×16 room. Rarer mineral types have higher HP but yield better gold, more experience, and a greater chance of dropping chests. Clearing every mineral in a room instantly spawns a fresh room, so your heroes never run out of targets. The golden rule is simple: if your bombers are not breaking minerals, you are earning nothing. Idle time and closing the game produce zero output.
Keys deserve special attention because they are the gatekeeper for progression. They only drop from stages that are not X-10 (the timed gate stages), and each gate consumes one key of the matching difficulty tier to enter. Hoarding keys before you need them is essential — running out means your progression halts entirely. Since keys follow the same Lucky-influenced drop table as chests and gems, boosting your Lucky stat pays dividends here as well.
Gems are among the rarest and most valuable drops in the game. There are nine distinct gem types, and they are consumed in star rituals to raise a hero's star rating, which provides a multiplier to that hero's base attributes. Because gems are both rare and permanently consumed, every gem you find matters, and farming them efficiently is a core part of late-game optimization.

The Lucky stat is the single most important modifier for rare-item farming. It directly increases the probability of receiving chests, keys, gems, and time parts whenever a mineral is destroyed. Notably, Lucky does not affect gold coin income — gold is fixed per mineral and per stage. This means that players who prioritize Lucky in their talent tree investments and equipment choices will see a dramatically higher volume of rare drops over time compared to those who focus purely on damage.
You can increase Lucky through several channels: specific nodes in the 132-node talent tree (purchased with gold coins), equipment attributes on higher-rarity gear, and hero skills. Stacking Lucky across your entire active squadron of up to nine heroes compounds the effect, since each hero independently triggers drops when their bombs destroy minerals. Early investment in Lucky-boosting talent nodes is one of the most efficient uses of your gold.

One of Bomb Farm's most player-friendly design decisions is that re-running earlier stages carries absolutely no penalty. Gold, experience, and all drops match the stage's original values every time you revisit it. This means you should identify the highest stage your squadron can clear quickly and efficiently, then loop it repeatedly. Speed is king: a stage you clear in half the time is worth twice the drops per hour, even if individual mineral quality is slightly lower.
For key farming specifically, avoid X-10 stages entirely since keys cannot drop there. Instead, focus on the stages immediately before each gate (X-7 through X-9 tend to be strong candidates) where mineral density is high and your squad can maintain continuous output. Keep all nine hero slots active — idle heroes produce nothing. Rotate tired heroes through recovery houses promptly, and upgrade your houses to minimize downtime.
Late-game players pushing the five difficulty tiers should consider cycling between difficulties strategically. Higher difficulties yield rarer minerals and better chest contents, but they also demand more energy from your heroes, leading to longer recovery cycles. Finding the sweet spot where your squad can sustain continuous room clears without excessive rest periods is the key to maximizing drops per hour across extended farming sessions.
Every rare item you collect can be converted into lasting strength through Bomb Farm's forging and fusion systems. Equipment can be enhanced with the +N forging system, and upgrades up to +8 are guaranteed to succeed with no risk of failure — making that range the safest and most efficient early investment for new drops. Beyond +8, failure becomes possible, so save your best pieces for careful enhancement and use surplus items as fusion fodder.
Duplicate heroes are not wasted either. Through the fusion system, you can combine multiple heroes of the same rarity to produce a single hero of the next rarity tier up. This makes every hero pull from a chest potentially valuable, even if the hero itself seems redundant. Similarly, items that no longer serve your squad can be traded with other players on the Steam Market, turning unwanted rare drops into real economic value outside the game.
